Dr. Sasha Stasko was born and raised in Windsor, the eldest of 5 children. She completed her Honors Bachelor of Science in Genetics, and Master of Science in Physiology at the University of Western Ontario, where she published her first of several research papers.
Inspired by her father, local dentist Dr. Joe Stasko, who showed her that people were much more interesting than mice, she then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2003. Eager for adventure, she travelled to Boston and completed a General Practice Residency, where she received Certificates from Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Sasha then practiced dentistry in Boston, New Hampshire, and Chicago, where she also taught clinical dentistry at the University of Illinois.
Her next experience brought her to an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University, followed by acceptance into the oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia residency program at the University of Toronto. Part way through, this academic vagabond, switched into periodontics, receiving a Master of Science in Periodontics from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Certificate in Periodontics from both Detroit Mercy and St. John’s Hospital.
A Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Sasha maintains specialty status and active licences on both sides of the border. She currently practices periodontics and dental implant surgery in Windsor, Ontario.
Sasha has had five children in five years. Her endless energy allows her to still find plenty of time to play with her kids, swim, compose party poetry, and tend to her gardens.
