- In certain circumstances, when replacing a front tooth with an implant, when a patient’s bite and health allows, a temporary non-removable crown may be placed on the same day of surgery. This will help hold the gums in an ideal position during the healing phase.
- If you are a candidate for immediate temporization, this temporary crown will be later replaced with a permanent crown, following appropriate healing.
Photo: This patient had an implant to replace a missing upper front tooth. A temporary crown was placed on her implant the same day of her surgery. This is a nice option, when appropriate, instead of wearing a removable denture/flipper during the healing stage.
